Just where do we start - In Canada here in Kelowna – Okanagan Valley Pregnancy Care Center – giving the mother of an unplanned baby the information counseling and support she needs. This center has proven to be so valuable here in the central part of British Columbia and of course funding is essential. That’s where you and I come into the equation!
On the Continent of Africa – Gifts to Grandmothers is a group of women, here in the Kelowna area along with at least two other groups, who make tote bags and slouches etc which they sell and 100% of the proceeds go to help Grandmothers in Africa raise their grandchildren. Everyone does buy gifts. It is our money and we are free to choose just where that money is spent. My suggestion is to purchase your gifts where the profit goes to help someone else. This way each one is doing his or her bit to relieve the misery that is in our world.
A story is told of a gentleman out for a walk along the cliffs by the sea. As he walked he noticed a figure on the beach below that appeared to be dancing along the water’s edge. Becoming curious he walkeddown the cliff toward the dancing figure. However, when he came closer he noted the figure was a young boy was not dancing at all but was going along the beach picking up star fish that the tide had left behind and throwing them back into the ocean. The Gentlemen asked what he was doing and the young lad said he was throwing the star fish back, because if he didn’t they would die before the tide came back. The gentlemen said but there are miles and miles of beach with the star fish on them and there was no way he could put all the star fish back to save them. The young lad while picking up the next star fish said, but to this one it does make a difference.
